June!

I love the slower pacing of summer, but I can't believe we're already halfway through it! Unfortunately, Luna and I both kicked it off with a mild case of COVID. As unenjoyable as it was, it brought me to a rather sudden halt that forced me to rest more than I would have otherwise. In the end I think it reminded me to be intentional about resting over these two months.

Since then, plenty of exciting things have been going on. Every Thursday, we have our Summer FOCUS for the students in town. Our theme this summer is "Embracing Life" as we've sensed some apathy and hopelessness towards life from a lot of our community. Throughout it, we are hitting on a handful of aspects we want to encourage them to embrace - from others, committment, hope, etc.

This last week, the women on our Collin staff team for this upcoming year took a road trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama! We had such a fun time connecting, swimming, seeing dolphins in the water with us (!!!...ok I was actually terrified), and simply spending time vacationing together when we typically spend most of our time together in work mode. I'm thankful to be on a team that values friendship and for Alex taking time off to spend quality time at home with Luna while I took a girls trip!

Every Monday this summer, our entire staff team spends the full day fundraising together. One of the highlights for me has been getting to spend those days working with two other moms on the Denton team and their kiddos. One of the boys is almost one and the other is two days younger than Luna! Typically the three of us work in the nursery all day while the babies play together. It's been encouraging to do this alongside other new moms and to see how excited, welcoming, and helpful everyone is when the babies join us for work. Notice their cute little "Future FOCUS Student" onesies!

Prayer Requests
  • We are currently building our student leader team for next year! Pray for our team as we make those decisions.
  • Our Collin team is gearing up to make a lot of changes this next year as we've debriefed and realized there are probably some better ways to go about doing some of the things we do. It will take a lot of brainstorming, buy in, tweaking, and patience!
  • I am at 80% of my fundraising goal! That's awesome for being halfway through the summer. Please pray for me to find people to help fill that final gap.
I hope you are all having a lovely summer!
With love,
Jacy
